For over 20 years, Sky High has been located directly on the IJsselmeer beach in Workum, next to Marina Park / Camping It Soal. We are a well-known kitesurf school in Workum, offering high-quality and, above all, fun kitesurf lessons, windsurf lessons, and wingsurf lessons for all ages and skill levels.
The shallow and flat water at the IJsselmeer beach makes Workum one of the best kitesurf and watersports locations in Friesland and the Netherlands. From April to November, Sky High is the central meeting point for watersports in Workum, where beginners and advanced riders start or improve their kitesurfing, wingsurfing, foiling, and windsurfing skills.
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced surfer looking to progress, our certified instructors adapt every lesson to your level. In addition to kitesurfing and windsurfing, we also offer wingsurf and foil lessons, a rapidly growing watersport that provides a unique feeling of freedom on the water. These lessons are available in Workum as well as at multiple locations across Friesland.
Sky High is an IKO-certified kitesurf school, and after successfully completing your course you will receive an official IKO certificate. This certificate confirms that you have the knowledge and skills to kitesurf safely and independently.
With an IKO certificate, you can rent kitesurf equipment worldwide, which is especially useful when traveling or kitesurfing along the Dutch coast or abroad.
Join our Sky High Kitecamp at the IJsselmeer beach in Workum — a dedicated training experience designed for riders who want to improve fast, ride more and have fun together. Whether you’re just starting or working on your next level, our camp offers structured coaching, daily on-water sessions and plenty of time to practice with like-minded kite enthusiasts.
From technique workshops and group sessions to freeride time on the water, the camp brings riders together in a supportive and energetic atmosphere. All levels are welcome — and equipment rental is available if needed.

Would you like to become a certified IKO kitesurf instructor yourself? You can follow the IKO instructor training course at Soal Surf. During the pre-season and post-season, this instructor course is available through our school.
The instructor training is highly recommended: you develop strong teaching and riding skills and gain the qualifications to teach kitesurfing professionally at Sky High, Soal Surf, or other surf schools worldwide.
